The German racer goes into tomorrow’s race positive about progress after qualifying 20th
PETRONAS Sprinta Racing’s Jonas Folger goes into his home race at tomorrow’s German Grand Prix positive about his potential, after finishing today’s qualifying session at the Sachsenring in 20th.
Folger was caught out in the battle to progress to Q2, but nevertheless remains upbeat about his chances for the race with the knowledge of having been fastest on track for the first session of the weekend, and having shown solid potential in the other practice sessions.
Folger and his PETRONAS Sprinta Racing team will line up on the grid tomorrow at 12.20pm local time (6.20pm Malaysian time) for the 28-lap race at the Sachsenring.
“I expected a little more in qualifying, but it has been a good weekend so far for us. Although we improved our lap time, everything is so close in Moto2. It’s a shame that we’re 20th when we’ve had a strong weekend so far, so we need to figure out where we’re losing time. I can make some strong laps in the early stages of the race, so there’s still potential for a good finish. Every day on the PETRONAS Sprinta Racing bike I’ve been able to learn and improve, and today we just didn’t have enough time on the bike to stay right at the front.”
