Sixth row for Pasini at Italian GP

PETRONAS Sprinta Racing Moto2 rider will start from 18th at home GP after a tough qualifying session.

Saturday was a difficult day for PETRONAS Sprinta Racing rider Mattia Pasini at the Italian GP. Despite showing strong pace throughout the weekend, Pasini struggled to find speed and space in Q2 and could not go quicker than a 1min 52.416secs lap, set on his penultimate attempt of the session.

Previously, Pasini had been fast in FP3, easily earning a spot in Q2. His 1min 52.035secs lap made him the eighth quickest rider in the final practice session of the weekend.

Pasini’s P18 on the grid in Mugello leaves everything to do in the Italian’s home race tomorrow, at a venue where he has won three times in the past.

The 21-lap Moto2 race gets underway on Sunday at 12:20pm local time.

#54 Mattia Pasini

“Honestly, we didn’t make the most of the opportunities in qualifying. We had bad luck encountering other riders on my fast laps, and that was a big problem. Now we have to put that behind us and find the solution to have a good race tomorrow. We have to understand what happened today and work in the right direction to improve our pace. Every Sunday is diferent; the most important thing for the race will be getting a good start. We have to give all that we have and the results will come.”
