Norrodin upbeat after finding more time in Valencian GP qualifying
PETRONAS Sprinta Racing Moto2 rider Adam Norrodin will start his last race with the team from P29
Adam Norrodin will start his final race in the Moto2 World Championship with PETRONAS Sprinta Racing from 29th. Preparing to line up for tomorrow’s Gran Premio de la Comunitat Valenciana at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, it marks an end to his time replacing the injured Khairul Idham Pawi as the season draws to a close.
The Malaysian rider has been able to continue his trend of continuous improvement so far this weekend at Valencia, going faster in every session and finding nearly a second of improvement between yesterday’s and today’s practices. Still struggling slightly from pain in his injured left shoulder, he was nonetheless able to set a time of 1min 36.345secs in qualifying to finish only 2.1secs from pole position and to match his best qualifying performance of P29 for tomorrow’s race.
Track action concludes for 2019 tomorrow, with Sunday’s 25-lap Gran Premio de la Comunitat Valenciana race getting underway at 1220 local time (1920 Malaysian time).
“Today started well and we were able to improve almost a second in FP3, even though I was still feeling a little bit of pain. We stopped practice a bit early to make sure that I was well-rested for qualifying, and I was able to go into the session feeling good. We’ve improved every time we’ve left the garage this weekend, and even if it’s only 0.3secs every time it shows we’re constantly getting better and better. It’s a shame that our position doesn’t reflect the improvements we’ve been making, but the positive for the race is that I know I can still go faster again. I just want to enjoy my last race with PETRONAS Sprinta Racing and get even more kilometres under my belt to prepare as best as possible for 2020.”
