Vierge and Dixon ready for Misano take two

PETRONAS Sprinta Racing’s Moto2 riders back in action this weekend for second race in a row

Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli will host the second Moto2 race in the space of two weeks, as the Gran Premio dell’Emilia Romagna e della Riviera di Rimini gets underway this weekend. Xavi Vierge and Jake Dixon will be hoping to achieve more good results for PETRONAS Sprinta Racing.

After finishing just shy of the podium last time, and accomplishing his best result of the 2020 season, Vierge will be looking to make the next step and finish within those top-three positions. With an improved one-lap pace, the Spaniard is confident of being able to give himself the best chance of another strong result at the Italian circuit.

Team-mate Dixon will be looking to make amends for missing out on the points places at the San Marino GP, although it was only his second time at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. Knowing that both he, and his Triumph-powered Kalex, have the potential to finish in the top 15, Jake’s focus will be on recapturing the feeling he had in Styria – the scene of his best Moto2 result to date.

Friday’s FP1 session for the PETRONAS Sprinta Racing pair will begin at 10.55am local time (4.55pm MYT), with the 25-lap Moto2 due to get underway at 12.20pm local time (6.20pm MYT) on Sunday.

Last weekend was really positive. I have watched the race back many times to try and see where I can improve my riding style. This will be really important, as we have a new soft rear tyre for this weekend. I want to start working with it as soon as possible, to see the potential of it – it will be almost like a new weekend for us, even though we are at the same circuit. We are really close to being on the podium, so we will see if that is possible this weekend. These last few days I have been cycling, but I also watched the MotoGP test yesterday. I’ve been trying to learn as much as possible from them, to make our weekend even better.

Jake Dixon

We need to look into the issue that we had in the race, because we really had the potential to do well last weekend. I know it was only my second time racing at Misano, but I am disappointed that we didn’t score any points. I know the lap times are there and I know we have a good race pace, we just need to put last time behind us and focus on getting back to where we were. We just need to analyse how we can improve myself, and the bike, at this circuit. Hopefully this weekend will be a better one for us, and we can come away with some points.
